As per [original article](https://www.latintimes.com/maine-governor-mocks-trump-misgendering-her-he-better-get-used-recognizing-women-because-hes-561694) 📰:
– Former President Donald Trump repeatedly misgendered Maine’s first female Governor Janet Mills whilst simultaneously condemning her politics on a phone call with his own supporters in Maine, according to a report.
During the phone call on Monday, Trump deliberately misrepresented many of the policies enacted or supported by Gov. Mills, saying that she intended to turn Maine into a “third world country”.
“He wants to resettle 75,000 migrants into Maine. That’s only because [Biden and Harris] told him to do so,” said Trump in a recording of the call that was obtained by The Bangor Daily News. “He’s weak and ineffective, and they told him to do so, and he’s saying, ‘Yes, sir. Yes, ma’am. I will do it.’”
This seemingly refers to a 2019 economic plan developed and released by Gov. Mills in which she calls for growing Maine’s workforce by 75,000 people over the course of a decade. Many conservative politicians and their supporters have falsely claimed that the Governor intends to meet this goal by seeking out immigrants exclusively.
Gov. Mills responded to the former President in a post on X (formerly Twitter), in which she referred to Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
“He better get used to recognizing women,” wrote the Democratic governor. “He’s about to get beat by one.”
The phone call, which took place on the first day of early voting in Maine, featured the former President attempting to motivate supporters in the state which divides electoral votes by congressional districts.
