    Reminds me of the Anthony Quinn line in *Lawrence of Arabia*: “I know of this tribe and that tribe, but of ‘Arabs’ I know nothing.” Or words to that effect.

    The “kurdish revolte” was literally a self declared independent state, and it was called kurdistan kingdom

    Arabs thought they will be free just because colonial powers told them to fight against the Ottoman empire for freedom 🤣

    I knew Yemen has had a lot of wars/instability over last 50 years, but the fact they have their own breakout legend for Yemeni States in this 1918 map is giving me some much needed context.
