Fuck it. Do full on parades in every middle eastern country. Find out how tolerant they are.

*“Pinkwashing is the symptom, settler-colonialism is the root sickness. Recognizing pinkwashing as colonial violence can help us understand how Israel divides, oppresses, and erases Palestinians on the basis of gender and sexuality,” according to a 2020 paper by the Jerusalem-based LGBT organization alQaws.*

*Five years ago, the Palestinian Authority blocked alQaws from hosting events in the West Bank.*

    lmao

I’m Gay and I don’t know how these people can support a group that would most likely kill them if they ever crossed paths with them.

  4. We need more of this. There has been way too much bluffing and not nearly enough calling it. The same thing with tough questions.

I hope someone goes to interview the leaders of Queers for Palestine in person to gather their thoughts on the proposal.

Do they think the money will go to a pride parade I’m genuinely befuddled?

JFC. Talk about a giant waste of money.

    1. People outed are likely in danger.
    2. Gaza needs medical aid, not parades.

I’d like to point out I fully support the rights of LGBTQ+ people in Gaza …I just don’t think a parade is helpful given the location and circumstances.

  7. Seems like a good way to get some combination of bombed or murdered.

Would need to be the most heavily armed pride parade in history but that would be a hilarious way to rub some salt in

I wouldn’t even step in Gaza as a white man for 1m. No way in hell any LGBTQ member with any brain cells is doing the same.

As a bi person myself this seriously disgusts me. They should try to have a parade in the Middle East and see how tolerable (most) Middle East states are.

Islamic extremists and republicans have so many moral and ethical values in common.

This sure sounds like a stunt, but if I were to accept that this is a gesture in good faith then maybe the act of giving an aid grant without a parade as a precondition would be a better gesture?

I guarantee you if we’ve had a zombie invasion tomorrow, these people would be first in line to create Zombie’s Lives Matter and argue why they should exist and how you too, can be a zombie.

Any culture that supports gay rights is not compatible with middle eastern culture. They are not our friends, and would never support us, even if we supported them.

Who from r/tactical wants to kit up and raise a rainbow flag in Gaza with me. I can be gay for a parade for a million bucks.

  16. Masculine_Dugtrio on

I’d say do it, but Hamas would just take it like everything else 🤦

This seems like a situation that could result in a double bluff calling. This org makes the offer to Queers For Palestine to call their bluff, QFP accepts, then the org has to back out because they know they’d be sending these people to their deaths.

Martians could be real and actively eating our skin and melting babies, and I’d guarantee people would be protesting for coexistence with them. God why are people DUMB

The twinge of irony that the president of the organization offering money is also the former president of the Log Cabin Republicans and was an advisor under Trump. Strikes me a little “Pot calling the kettle black “

  20. CALM_DOWN_BITCH on

An intelligent way to make a righteous point. I hate everything about this conflict.

  21. Skimming the article, it’s not clear if the group is serious or they made the offer sarcastically as a joke. I’m inclined to think it’s the latter.

    >Angelo previously served as a White House press secretary under the Trump Administration and was president of the Log Cabin Republicans, the nation’s largest Republican organization advocating for LGBT conservatives and allies. The group says it “works within the Republican Party to advocate equal rights for LGBT people in the United States.”

Yeah, probably the latter. They may be for LGBT rights generally, but this seems like a publicity stunt to manufacture a narrative. Probably best to just ignore these people.

Not like there’s enough roofs to throw all of them off, some will survive with the money!

I want then to actually execute it and learn their fucking lesson

  24. Pfannen_Wendler_ on

I mean offering the measely sum of one millions shows this isnt seriously about gay rights in Gaza but supposed to prove a bigoted point about bigoted people

  25. ChaoticKiwiNZ on

LMFAO. How detached from reality can you be to think this is a good idea?
