I’ll say it now, so that if it happens I can be right: The only reason the Liberals would prorogue is for a leadership change. They gave themselves a few temporary powers that disappear if they prorogue, so they won’t do it for nothing.

Proroguing would also mean the capital gains tax changes would not be implemented for 2024 (if ever) because that Bill hasn’t actually passed yet, and any standing legislation gets killed in a prorogation (and would have to start from scratch).

While the CRA starts administering any proposed changes as soon as budget documents are introduced and a motion passed, in anticipation of the final bill getting signed into law, it won’t do it if the actual bill is completely killed. (which is what would happen as per above).

Although this might be the easy way for the Liberals to withdraw from the proposal, as they have been getting killed on it from their own constituents that own properties such as cottages, and it messing up succession planning.

Rumour has it I can’t call them Documents to Nowhere. Poilievre is going to force the RCMP to prove they didn’t look at what he sent them. Is this sub that far behind already?
