“Good luck touring without that $14” -Ticketmaster, probably

The problem with this is that depending on a number of different factors, artists can sometimes not really “profit” from ticket sales. Since 360 deals became the norm in the record industry for any artist who’s dumb or desperate enough to take label money, there is very little “profit” anywhere.

And if an artist has a guarantee and the ticket sales don’t cover it, then you actually can lose money touring. Which is why you see big artists pull out of touring. They were fronted usually half of their guarantee just to book the show and venue, and then ticket sales sucked ass. So they have to cancel and then pay back whatever they’re contractually obligated to pay back or downsize to a smaller venue and still lose money.

You recoup the advances and such, which is a good thing, but there is very little profit.

The “profits” you make come in the form of alternate forms of income like endorsements and such.

More of an activist than other singers who gets online to bitch and moan about everything and everyone instead.
