Just waiting on the party of law and order to spin this one around. Their ability to perform gymnastics is unparalleled. Anything that comes of this won’t have any appreciable effect on his cult base, unfortunately.

I feel like the most trustworthy white guy in Georgia was Boss Hog in the 70s and it went downhill from there. They probably had to tone down the political corruption in Georgia for that show just to make it more believable.

Summoning literal Nazis to a small town because you can’t stop spreading hateful lies ought to put you under the jail.

  7. It might be hard to get these to stick for political reasons, but it should be easy to have these charges pursued against Musk and other well known names spreading this misinformation.

Trump could (insert the worst thing imaginable that a human could do) and 70 million sociopaths would still vote for him.

“Ohio law includes a rarely used mechanism that allows private citizens to pursue criminal charges.”

I have a strong suspicion this was put in place by Republicans…. I fully expect major backpedaling for Glorious Leader.

Also, just regarding some of the Trump administration that have been convicted of crimes:

Donald Trump was charged, convicted, and is awaiting sentencing.

Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.

Trump’s former campaign vice chairman, Rick Gates, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.

Trump’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.

Trump’s former adviser and former campaign aide, Roger Stone, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.

Trump’s former adviser and former White House aide Peter Navarro, was charged, convicted, and is currently in prison.

Trump’s former campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.
The Trump Organization’s former CFO, Allen Weisselberg, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.

Trump’s former White House national security advisor, Michael Flynn, was charged and convicted.

Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, was charged with wire fraud and money laundering, in addition to a conviction in a contempt case similar to Navarro’s. He’s currently awaiting sentencing.

Though he was later acquitted at trial, Trump’s former inaugural committee chair, Tom Barrack, was charged with illegally lobbying Trump on behalf of a foreign government. (Elliot Broidy was the vice chair of Trump’s inaugural committee, and he found himself at the center of multiple controversies, and also pled guilty to federal charges related to illegal lobbying.)

Two lawyers associated with Trump’s post-defeat efforts, Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell, have pleaded guilty to election-related crimes.

Anyone else would already be in jail, so sick of this entitled turd.

  13. Charges include:

    – Making False Alarms
    – Committing Telecommunications Harassment
    – Committing Aggravated Menacing
    – Violating the Prohibition Against Complicity

  14. bambam_mcstanky2 on

They dismissed the misdemeanor stuff they won’t have the courage to bring felony charges forward. They should but they won’t the only chance of holding these people accountable is from the ballot box

  15. MrBallistik on

The article says the court found no probable cause to issue misdemeanor warrants. The prosecutor’s office is reviewing charges brought by a **private citizen**.

    So…

  16. Considering that the citizens of Springfield have been put at great risk by these hucksters antics it makes sense to pursue charges.

  17. StormOk7544 on

Is the false alarm charge like calling in a fake report of a crime to police? That wouldn’t really fit here. And I’m seeing aggravated menacing involving specific threats to people’s physical safety, often involving weapons. Not sure that fits either. The problem is that Trump and other MAGAs can use relatively general language and still somehow signal to their people to do the terrorizing for them. So the speech of Trump himself usually isn’t illegal on its own.

  18. Lil_sneakers on

“The charges were filed last month by Guerline Jozef, leader of the nonprofit Haitian Bridge Alliance. Ohio law includes a rarely used mechanism that allows private citizens to pursue criminal charges.

    The charges include:

    Making False Alarms
    Committing Telecommunications Harassment
    Committing Aggravated Menacing
    Violating the Prohibition Against Complicity”

    I love this for them!!

  19. >The charges include:

    >* Making False Alarms
    >* Committing Telecommunications Harassment
    >* Committing Aggravated Menacing
    >* Violating the Prohibition Against Complicity

Wow, those charges sound eminently reasonable; they’re exactly what they knowingly and willfully did.

  20. TheNewTonyBennett on

It was my understanding that much like taking $1,000,000 and simply throwing it all over the street, that you **also** **can’t** intentionally cause panic via any *other* method, either.

This reaaaally should constitute being considered as having created societal panic. The violence and bomb threats are clearly the results of said panic being caused.

Which is, obviously, extremely against the law.

  21. Advanced-Blackberry on

Clark county and the city of Springfield didn’t pursue charges.

This is a private entity filing charges that the county is reviewing.  This is NOT the local government looking bring charges on their own.
    MDon’t get your hopes up.

  22. ExKnockaroundGuy on

When I was sentenced in 1984 they immediately revoked my 500k bond and put me in a van for 6 days travelling to another hole to travel 2 more weeks ‘Diesel Therapy’ . I wasn’t allowed to vote until last year in Florida. But fuck me I was just a poor dumb kid .

  23. Dumb fucks picked one of the only states where private citizens can pursue criminal charges to lie about

  24. Rough_Idle on

Let’s face it, we tiptoe around this guy because we’re scared of the domestic terrorist organizations which support him. By not holding him accountable for his crimes in the same manner as any other defendant, we are trying to placate the violent thugs in our country. We’re no better than the people in the Middle East just trying to get by with ISIS in the neighborhood. While understandable to a point, this soft peddling only emboldens them. Lock him up

“Committing Aggravated Menacing” is an insane sounding charge lol
