I’m pretty sure they do this to musicians too, the ones they don’t murder anyway.
I read yesterday that Pink Floyd sold.their “catalog and likeness (?) for 400 mil. I’m sure Syd is happy his legacy is reduced to a hundred mil for each of the assholes that cut him out. He had LOTS of good songs left in him. Some if his solo stuff is better that what’s on PATGOD in my opinion.
Anyway, I digress.

It makes total sense. Arthur’s character is basically Tod Phillips. He doesn’t want to be the Joker anymore, it’s not who he is – just like Tod doesn’t want to make Joker movies anymore. Lee symbolizes the fans of the first movie who want more joker despite Arthur and Todd saying they don’t want to do it anymore.
