100% more spending should be spent on the boomers. They’re the most reliable voting bloc, and you gotta keep bribing them.
We need to work towards balancing the budget and getting debt load down, as it’s going to be extremely important as we move into an aging world.
We need a massive reduction in spending at the federal level for sure. Stop giving out foreign aid. The idea that Canada has any soft power is a joke.
Maybe just a thought, but have the government stop pretending tools allowing automation and computerization haven’t severely outdone understood projections and implement more on the governmental level. I would have no problem going back to a country, this country, where you weren’t working just to cover basic needs.
Not everybody is in agreement. But I think the near 10% of our federal budget that’s spent towards Indigenous affairs, is really holding our country back. More money is going to reservations, and less services are being provided to the Indigenous with that money than we are able to provide off reservation. Anybody living on reservation should be able to look around and understand that.
The insane levels of corruption in the Indigenous communities needs to stop.
“There are nearly 30 federal departments and agencies that give money to aboriginal Canadians. Together, all federal spending on First Nations and First Peoples is closer to $13,000 per capita.
The entire federal budget for non-aboriginal persons is $7,295 each per year. That means Ottawa spends about 75% more for every aboriginal citizen than it spends on non-aboriginals.”
If you feel like the federal government is failing you? Well you’re probably non-Indigenous
Pretty sure that more spending is always good.
And not spending is always bad. (**CUTS!**)
What people don’t understand about us spending 10% of our budget, just on the interest on our debt… is that *we can just borrow 10% more!!!!*
Honestly I feel like we’ve got another solid 7 years of forking borrowed money down our throats before we have to axe social security.
Of course, the oldest Canadians – that is, the biggest beneficiaries of spending up until now – are the most likely to say that there should be no new spending.
Why am I not surprised?
There needs to be a balance. Yes spending is good. But putting money on debt is good too. It’s the same for saving for a rainy day.
There are many ways they can save but this government is too old school. We have the technology to allow a lot of folks to work from home. And those building costs could go towards the debt and many other things. But yet they are too concerned in making sure their rich realtor friends get their share.
Millenials are idiots. Apparently we support taking our tax dollars and giving every single senior a 10% pay raise. Such is why 75% of Canadians apparently support a 10% further increase to Old Age Security.
Millenials want to take money out of their pocket from the 1 bedroom apartment they can barely afford, and give 10% more to the 70 year old couple living in a 4 bedroom home.
My generation is the dumbest. We are the lackeys of boomers. We pretend to hate them but vote to make us poor and them rich every single time.
Freeland needs to go back to Russia where she belongs.
