**A Swiss insurance nightmare**
Let me tell you a story of a greedy health insurance provider in Switzerland.
Recently, we went through a difficult time with our Swiss health insurance. After our child received a diagnosis, his private insurance was suddenly removed by the insurer, who claimed we hadn’t disclosed his condition — even though it was diagnosed *after* we got the policy. This led to a number of medical bills we had to pay out of pocket as they reversed their decisions after we had already been to hospital a couple of times.
We spent countless months disputing their decision, and after a lot of back and forth, the insurer admitted they had been wrong in the first place. We got a signed letter from the director of this insurance company.
The reason they tried to get away with it in the first place? They did not want to pay lifelong medical bills for our child as they saw it as a burden that might be a negative to their financial result.
While we’re satisfied they reversed course, the stress and financial burden were totally unnecessary and it shows me that you should not depend on a private company with something as important as your health insurance, as money clearly seems to come first.
