This is so dumb. Is no one allowed to give Beyonce even the slightest criticism? What he said wasn’t even bad. He was mainly complimentary.

  2. It’s not like the country genre is setting the world on fire. What’s one more piece of trash on the trash heap?

Why does she have to pander to some Association that decides what’s country or not? It makes no sense to me why rubbing elbows would change the album’s quality.

  4. It’s not racial. It’s political, in that Nashville and “country” music are a club. They have a stable of songwriters and producers that pick and choose who is given the most attention and who are pushed on the public. I think it makes it worse than some people thinking it’s racial. He’s basically saying you have to kiss the rings of the decision makers like he did. That’s why all the songs sound the same. The same people make them.

  5. I wonder what he will say if Post Malone gets nominated/wins. Cause he did the same thing as Beyoncé.

Grew up in a town of 800 with more cows than people. The nearest CITY had less people than the small town Luke grew up in

I don’t think she cares at all. It’s a good album that sees a lot of play and has made her even richer. At the end of the day, i think what she’s paying attention to is the Grammys and what happens with it there.

  8. Just out of curiosity, was it even a good album by country standards? I mean I’m sure it sold just based on her fan base, but was it a good country album? I haven’t a clue.

I’m pretty sure she had tried to interact in the past and was refused entry to the KKlub.

I wonder if part of the issue is that she came in with an album drawing on the history of Black artists in country music, which was really educational and interesting to me. But I could also see how the country establishment would take offense and feel like Beyoncé was trying to educate them on their own genre, and that offense could be magnified by racism. By contrast, from what I’ve heard Post Malone did a great job of ingratiating himself with the country music establishment, being everyone’s favorite hang and collaborator. Of course that route is a lot more available to him than it would be for Beyoncé because he’s a white guy.

I’m pretty sure that Beyonce knows that there are very few things she ‘has’ to do.
