Help! I did a massive shit in my bed and now I have to lie in it.

  2. Or maybe it’s because everybody hates him?

Employing a hate monger in your teaching staff isn’t the kind of move that pleases young families

Reminds of this tweet I saw a while back.

Me sowing: Haha fuck yeah!!! Yes!!

Me reaping: Well this fucking sucks. What the fuck

    > “I was a teacher before and obviously I’ve applied for a few jobs and sadly not even had an interview yet, so actually I think the days when being an ex-MP was something that was wanted or desired is no longer. I think we’re now seen as a problem and so that’s a challenge.”

Don’t think it is because he is an ex MP, just that he has revealed himself to not be intelligent enough to be a teacher

    > Gullis endorsed Liz Truss…

  5. Terrible_Clothes_465 on

Well if it isn’t the fucking consequences of your own actions.

  6. literalmetaphoricool on

Bloke made some pretty awful comments, including calling kids who fall into drugs ‘scrotes’ and teachers ‘commies’. He’s pretty much ruled himself out on both safeguarding and culture grounds.

If you are struggling to get a token seat on a board of directors or highly paid consultancy gig after being an MP, that marks you out as being a spectacularly useless arsehole much less failing to land a teaching gig.

  8. SenatorBiff on

Or, to give him his full title, Ultracunt Jonathan Gullis.

It’s a mystery why nobody would want to employ such a nice chap. A real mystery.

  9. InformationOmnivore on

Unemployable here? Wonder if he’s possibly considered emigrating elsewhere where he’s less well known, the irony would be sweet!

  10. Turns out being a high profile twat for years is not good for your employment prospects, that’s crazy.

  11. YouHaveAWomansMouth on

There’s nothing inherently wrong with being a “former Tory MP”; the problem is how often it goes hand in hand with being a “current twat”.

  12. Spare_Dig_7959 on

Hope he never gets the chance to teach children about the importance of telling the truth.

  13. BobBobBobBobBobDave on

Suspect they won’t employ him because he is a massive wanker. The Tory MP part is tangential.

  14. dickyboy_adams on

Saying irresponsible and inflamatory things on tv puts people off hiring you to teach. Once again the dildo of consequence arrives unlubed.

  15. QuantumWarrior on

I don’t actually think this is bias at all, he hasn’t had any teaching experience for five years and is probably getting put at the bottom of the pile for that reason alone. The only job in parliament that’s like herding a class of children is the Speaker after all.

Even then – “I’ve applied for a few jobs and not even had an interview yet” is just describing the normal job hunt almost everyone in this country faces.

  16. I imagine they the know he’s a guy who would cause endless issues for anyone who employs him.

  17. realmofconfusion on

Well, I never thought the leopards would eat *my* face says the ex-member of “leopards eating other people’s faces” party.

  18. Is he applying to become headteacher or ceo of academies etc?

He seems entitled and I cannot see him applying for just a normal teacher role ,at the coalface.

I bet he is trying to get one of those top CEO jobs in an academy. I have news for you ,there are a lot of people who are more qualified than you ,so you better start at the bottom.

  19. im_at_work_today on

    Well….when did he start applying?
    In July…August?
Surely majority of schools would have had their positions filled well before Sept.
What an idiot, just making excuses for his own incompetences.

  20. Specific_Till_6870 on

I was talking to my wife about this last night because she’s also a teacher. She said there’s a real need for teacher’s at the moment but that his formerly role as MP and working in DoE/School isn’t what’s hindering him because of what he did in those roles but that kids, and parents, would eat him alive. He seems to think his old nickname at school was “Grumpy Gullis” because he never smiled, when kids are actually far more creative than that, even with a normal teacher, but can you imagine having a teacher who was a former Tory MP? His position in the ckassroom would be untenable.

  21. evolveandprosper on

Schools won’t employ him becuase he is unfit to be a teacher. If my kids were still of school age, I would withdraw them from their school if it employed Gullis. He’s a deeply unpleasant, racist, far-right gobshite who shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near children. Employing him would bring any school into disrepute.

  22. On_The_Blindside on

It couldn’t be that he’s been found out to be a thick dickhead that no one wants to be around is it?

He’s said some pretty vile things, I’d not want my kids being taught by him.

  23. With the way he has acted in recent times, would you want him anywhere near your or anyone else’s kids?

He is a boorish oaf, who has specialised in saying exactly the kind of things that schools try to get kids away from.

The kids would eat him for breakfast too, they would have so much ammunition, that they would have him ranting and raving by morning breaktime.

  24. Civil_opinion24 on

Who’d imagine that after spending 14 years slashing education funding and telling teachers they’re a bunch of woke mind-virus incompetents, those same teachers don’t want to employ him.

Hopefully he’ll be forced to apply for benefits soon.

  25. vidPlyrBrokeSoNewAc on

I’d definitely give him an interview and have a lot of fun reading his tweets and public quotes back to him

  26. appletinicyclone on

I like if Tories are alienated but I imagine it’s more him embracing a victim mentality

  27. Maybes it’s because he’s a massive chimp, the schools are concerned about the amount of bananas they will have to feed him, to get him to educate properly.

  28. What’s that? When you go out of your way to attack, sabotage and undermine everyone in a sector, they aren’t inclined to offer you a job afterwards?

    Whoever could’ve guessed?

  29. funkyphonicsmonkey on

I read he used to get enraged when kids used to call him ‘Seagullis’.

I’ve got news for you Jonny boy; the kids who are now in school are much more creative in their insults.

    Not sure you’ll hack it.

  30. Stock_Inspection4444 on

If I was a headteacher I wouldn’t hire him. Not because he’s a former Tory mp but because he’s a massive prick who behaved in a completely unprofessional manner on many many occasions

  31. BangingBaguette on

While American-style political garbage is still on the rise and a serious threat, it does comfort me a little that this guy who would just fall into the background of lunatic American politicians was singled out and ostracised for his blatant unhinged behaviour in our system.

Discounting perhaps Mogg, Gullis is in pretty good running for maybe one of the most reprehensible and disgusting MPs to ever hold a seat in modern UK politics.

  32. Maybe he should try getting a job at Timpsons, they’ve got strong rehabilitation policies.

  33. Tories now loudly complaining when they have to engage with the absolute hellscape of a job market they spent 10 years so proudly building up in this country.

And Gullis, mate, I thought there was a whole industry of private schools out in the country who are now being attacked by Labour and surely don’t care about your own political background? Could it be you’re just not very good?

  34. Practical-Purchase-9 on

What little I’ve gleaned suggests he doesn’t offer much to a school. His public statements about teaching make him sound an ass. He’s been described as the laziest PGCE student someone ever supervised, with him taking shortcuts to not do his own work.

According to Wikipedia he worked four schools in his seven year career, so he can’t or won’t hold down a position. Either he’s one of those sorts that is only interested in quickly climbing into management by job hopping or he makes himself so unpopular by being a dickhead or incompetent that he has to move elsewhere. Either way, as someone who has interviewed lots of teachers, I see red flags which have nothing to do with him being a Tory. He’s not a team player, he’s a twat.

I bet he’s a shit teacher that’s not invested in the student and pisses off colleagues, you can get away with one but not both of those. He’s only interested in climbing the ladder out the classroom into management positions for which he has neither the temperament, empathy or intellectual capacity for.

If he wants to be a teacher I imagine there are supply agencies he could register with. He could probably find a basic classroom job and be given a full teaching timetable, but a grifter like him would just fold under the workload. You just know he’s expecting to walk into a senior management role with a five year gap in his teaching experience and that’s why he’s getting no offers, and I’ve not even touched on his odious personal character that would lead most to reject him.
