I liked the first one more than the second even though it got way better reviews.

The second movie was an abysmal viewing experience. Contrasting it with something like Halloween, in which there is some level of thematic expression, was painful. The movie was devoid of soul or substance. It existed purely for the sake of watching characters die in horrific ways. Obviously there is a place for a film like that. See Saw 4-7. However, Terrifier 2 was so mean-spirited and unfun that I couldn’t believe it while watching it. I don’t know why it struck a chord with me so deeply, but it really was one of my least favorite theatre experiences. I apologized to all of my friends as we left the theatre.

I keep wanting these films to be good, but… they aren’t. I love the concept, and art has the makings of a great horror villain, but the scripts boil down to a bunch of chodes sitting in the writers room chortling about the most brutal kill, yawn.
