We have this in most stations in the UK. They look like this: https://content-eu.invisioncic.com/y320084/monthly_2019_08/1329224902_PIatformDisplay-5carriagesHuddersfield24082019-RMweb.jpg.0dc0e5a303341ee6bc7bd8a472d3ae5e.jpg
But there is usually a bar in each carriage to show the capacity, a bit like a battery on a phone.
That’s definitely not everywhere, but only for this particular company/city.
This but still more often than not your train will be late in Germany.
Not everybody rich as Hamburg
I heard last week that Berlin is trialing this system from Hamburg in a few stations.
Very interesting, apparently they’re using photo sensors to detect the type and number of carts, as well as the level of occupancy.
Germany ahead of the curve in technology? what a time to be alive
If only it would show when/if it would arrive.
Really, they should show how many Oma’s are in that section, closing all the windows so everybody can get Covid.
Finally, I’m keep wanting something like this.
The Stadler KISSes have them inside when you get on. Shows the whole train and four people symbol below each section. And if I observed it correctly then it only shows when the train is on the station
This is part of the pilot project and is also deployed in some stations in Berlin as of last week: [https://www.sueddeutsche.de/wirtschaft/neue-infos-am-bahnsteig-pilotprojekt-s-bahn-berlin-bekommt-neue-auslastungsanzeige-dpa.urn-newsml-dpa-com-20090101-240924-930-242020](https://www.sueddeutsche.de/wirtschaft/neue-infos-am-bahnsteig-pilotprojekt-s-bahn-berlin-bekommt-neue-auslastungsanzeige-dpa.urn-newsml-dpa-com-20090101-240924-930-242020)
We’ve had this in Santiago (Chile) in the metro network for 9 years now, they’re pretty freaking amazing and really convenient
How do they even measure that
I am not sure how this is more important than being on time.
I don’t remember getting frustrated over finding less crowded couch, but definitely had stressed out because of cancelled train. What is more interesting is they didn’t offer a refund, because missing the train meant for me I had to go back home.
German trains should focus on delayed and cancelled routes first
BVG would rather cancel all trains than implement this.
