Are the UNIFIL still there? I’d assume they’d just back off since the hostilities started. It’s not that they are empowered to do anything except riding around on white armored cars.

They are there to keep Hezbolah from violating the 2006 ceasefire after Israel agreed to withdraw. Good job on that.

its a bit hard to say. the mobile device bombs certainly have disabled many key actors, so theres a world where there may be strikes on infrastructure and assets only.
that being said, it sure looks like Israel is planning at ground offensive at least around its border with Lebanon.

I understand it is the wrong post, but why can’t be done the same for the Belarusian Ukrainian border?

TIL that the UN mandate includes firing thousands of rockets at civilian population centers.

They’d probably rather be there than fighting for their buddy Putin in eastern Ukraine.

>UNIFIL personnel, including Indian troops, maintain peace, prevent escalation, and ensure compliance with the UN mandate, stabilizing Lebanon’s volatile region without engaging in direct combat.
The article begins with a big lie. UNIFIL does not maintain peace, prevent escalation, ensure compliance with UN mandates or stabilize the border. UNIFIL does nothing but sit on its ass all day. They let Hezbollah take over southern Lebanon and set up terrorist bases there, in violation of UN resolution 1701. They refused to enforce the resolution against Hezbollah. Only Israel was forced to comply with that resolution.

UNFIL has not done a good job here.

You’d think they could make themselves actually useful by stopping Hezbollah from firing off missiles instead of sitting around in armored vehicles doing nothing.

If you ever feel useless remember that the UN has peacekeepers working to protect an illegal military from the nations they terrorise
