Interesting, I wonder if it’s Lake Vänern that creates that little area of extra sunshine in south Sweden, enough to differ from the rest of the region.
Interestingly that dark blue blob is also the area of Ireland with the lowest population density by far.
Another reminder of just how far north Europe really is. Over here in Canada I’m at the same latitude as northern Spain or Italy and we get a similar amount of sun. The experience of Scotland or Norway, where winter only has a few hours of sun each day, is actually quite unusual by our standards. Very few of us over here live that far north. Outside Alaska the northernmost major city is Edmonton, Alberta which is about the same degree north as Manchester or Hamburg.
ppl in iceland be like “sunshine? never heard of it”
As someone who spent 5 years of uni studies in Szeged before moving to Budapest…I can definitely relate to that tiny orange blob in Southern Hungary…the May – August axis was atrocious. Every single year. Thank fuck most if it didn’t involve studies.
Stockholm with a smile!
Which cities have lots of sunshine while also experiencing proper winters with cozy, snowy christmas? that’s ideal imo
Do you see that blue line in the middle of Europe? I live at its tip, but not inside it and there is real difference in weather with neighbour town in 15 km, which located in blue.
I have 1270 hours of sunshine. literally 80% of winter, the sky is hidden behind white clouds. I would like to note that winter lasts 6-7 months, and by the standards of cities like London – 9-10 months.
This doesn’t show the “quality” of the sunshine though, as sunshine in nordic countries can be very white bright or low on the horizon.
Very jealous of these countries that are further North than us but still getting more sun
The island of Donegal, eh?
Surprised it gets more sunshine than Longford etc.
No way Galway has as many sunshine hours as Waterford
Iceland strong
I literly live in the smal darck blue splat in norway, it’s not as bad as people thinks…
I was quite surprised to learn that Tallinn, Estonia has for example more sunshine than Bordeaux, France for example. Still, I would trade some sunshine at 4am in July for some sun at 4pm in December…
Hi From Malta! 🫠
Estonia is a weird place regarding that. So much sunshine in the summer I literally get tired of it (its always light outside, have problems sleeping) and they you lurk into complete darkness (getting to work — still dark; getting back — already the sun hard set). Still love it, but it requires a prolonged adjustment.
Interesting that most solar panela are instaled in gten/blue area….
What is best? 1800-2000? Right now I am at 2500+ which is nice but sometimes you want some change.
Belgium🥲
I live in the city with most sunshine hours of all Europe lol
I had a colleague from the uk visiting us last week.
Lisbon: 305 days of sun per year, yet she managed to choose one of the other 60 days
That blue blob reaching towards Ukraine going:
“Ahaha, Czechs and Slovaks, up yours!”😭
Get rekt
/k
Just the tip:)
