You are incorrect about the first part. He, Donald Trump, an econ grad from the Wharton School of Business, has repeatedly demonstrated over the past few weeks that he has no idea what a tariff is. I didn’t put it together at first either, but the proof is from his rambling answer on Child Care legislation where he claims that we will be taxing other countries and making so much money, child care will be easy and in fact, we’ll make so much money we’ll pay off the debt. He thinks tariffs are taxes on other countries, and has confirmed that in multiple other interviews.

The fact that he doesn’t know what a tariff is, the difference between a budget deficit and our national debt, or what a trade surplus is, should be absolutely damning against someone running on fixing the economy. However, none of his voters are smart enough or educated enough to know what any of those things are either, so they just believe whatever he says.
