Very cool!🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺
According to Deutsche Bahn it’s 8 hours:
https://www.deutschebahn.com/de/presse/pressestart_zentrales_uebersicht/Erstmals-mit-dem-ICE-von-Berlin-nach-Paris-neue-Direktverbindung-vorgestellt-13084996
Paris-Strasbourg is ~~2h13~~ 1h46 today for those wondering
Too few trains going other routes than via Strasbourg, it’s a big mistake for interconnection. The Strasbourg-Karlsruhe corridor is already saturated (they’re planning on adding a track but it won’t be finished before 2028). Meanwhile the other corridors are underfunded and getting abandonned.
IMO the Paris-Berlin should have gone via Saarbrücken-Mannheim (as it was planned originally) and the Paris-Munich should have gone via Mulhouse-Basel-Zürich
Very jealous!
8* hours
If it’s operated by DB well I think you guys might know lol
Nice. Now the Schlieffen plan can happen faster.
How long from Frankfurt to Bordeaux?
Now can we please get Berlin-warsaw HSR then Prague – Kraków ?
I am just waiting for the trains to come too late for an overpriced ticket. 🎫
I hope the network extends to Vienna and Budapest!
*cries in the netherlands*
If it doesn’t run at 320 km/h continuously like in Spain or France, it should not be called high speed. German trains are almost never high speed because Germans do not have a dedicated high speed rail network like in Spain, France, Italy and so on. On top of that, the newest ICEs can’t even reach 300 km/h anymore. Pathetic
That’s insane. It took 6 weeks in 1940!
And in a few weeks the project will be terminated because the trains in Germany are too late and are no longer allowed to travel to France. Mark my words.
6 hours, unless there are leafs on the tracks, or it is too hot, or too cold, or too wet. And Mars and Jupiter have to be aligned,… and..
Laughs in Deutsche Bahn. Hahahaha
🇫🇷🤝🇩🇪❤️🇪🇺
Why are they not showing the direct eurostar connections via Belgium?
I can already hear the German PSA for this Trainroute:
“ICE 28 Richtung Paris… Fällt heute aus, Grund dafür ist eine Störung an einer Weiche”
“ICE 28 Richtung Paris… Heute ca. 30 Minuten später”
Don’t forget the Thalys. Cologne <-> Paris, 3h 22m
Believe it or not? Still stuck in Kassel for 1 hour
The Germans circumvented us for once. They learned their lesson.
8 hours is so quick…
Running a TGV or ICE on conventional tracks doesn’t make it HSR. Average speed needs to be above 275km/h
Okay but how long is the flight?
Also, what about ticket prices, what is the difference?
You could listen to from Paris to Berlin 99.17 times over the journey
lets see how much the airplane tickets will increase in order to push people to use this line
(increase by some weird tax not by the airlines themselves)
A flight is less than 2 hours at a comparable price…
Wow six hours! And I thought three weeks was fast last time 🗿
Lmao takes less than Ljubljana – Maribor
You got my hopes up with the 6h, thinking I could do Frankfurt Berlin in like 2h30m, but unfortunately not the case.
Beijing to Shanghai is 4hrs 20mins, for 1300km. We have to do better.
I love how this map shows the state of high-speed rail in France versus Germany (tongue-in-cheek!)
France: Simple, few stops, straight line A->B
Germany: Super complex, many extra stops, same connection with different routes, some trains skip Mannheim…
Will cost minimum 120EUR roundtrip, when easyJet gets you there and back for 99 under two hours. I like trains, I would ride trains for the environment and convenience – but why the fuck these night jets from ÖBB are so expensive when at the same time I can have cheaper and faster flight? The ones I used even travel half-empty sometimes… They need to invest more in the business model and marketing departments.
through mannheim and frank a.m.? yeah good luck with that. its not like every single line is already over maximum capacity.
