I knew I should’ve taken today off to put my storm shutters up. Hopefully, the weather will hold out in the morning. This new climate change-fueled super-fast intensification of hurricanes is insane. I figured those of us in the Tampa Bay Area would get some wind and rain, that the storm would pass as a Category 1 or 2 at worst, but even with the more westerly track, it still looks like it could be a bad few days. It’s 10:30pm on Wednesday now and very little rain and no wind to speak of….yet.

Jesus… this has potential for a lot if damage and lives lost. I truly hope they are over predicting damages and it’s not as they state.

  4. Damn, Helene’s not messing around. Hope people in its path are prepping hard.

There’s bound to be a population of hurricane deniers content to go about their business as usual

Anyone remember George Bush getting blamed for hurricanes?  Ya.  Good times.

  7. Desantis: “We just wont say Hurricane anymore and it magically goes away.”

Gee, looks like it’s heading to the heart of Republican territory (The Floribama coast). Maybe if they keep denying Climate Change, it will cease to be.

Get out the sharpie! We must arm ourselves with nuclear weapons!

  10. Good thing Desantis banned climate change so storms can’t be that bad anymore and he definitely won’t be demanding Fed / FEMA resources for increasing storm activities since climate change is no longer recognized

Now will Republicans in Florida believe in climate change?
I hope the destruction is minimal

  12. 80mph winds Forcast for Atlanta. This is gonna be a heck of a ride. I feel bad for anyone from FL thinking they’ll ride it out up here… Just keep goin, man!

_“The hurricane’s massive size is already evident in its wind field, with tropical-storm-force winds now extending an astounding 345 miles from its center.“_

Wow, that really is a monster storm.

Do you want us to turn on “the faucet” in British Columbia and flush the hurricane out to the Atlantic for you?

Tough times here. Had a tornado come through my town a few months ago. The buildings downtown finished repairs this week to allow them to open back up, and now, even though it’s shifted slightly away, we’re right on the edge of hurricane/tropical storm weather to hit us in the middle of the night tomorrow.

And my cousin gets married Saturday in St. Simon’s Island, so you know, bummer for her.

The worst part about it is that it may cause many Floridians to move inland near the rest of us.
