  1. > “I truly believe that there is power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help, when you want help,” Gomez said as her younger sister Gracie Elliott Teefey sat beside her, footage from the event shows.

    > “That is not shameful. So yeah, I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yeah, I shared I have bipolar. F— off. That’s what my life is like.” she added as the other attendees clapped in agreement.

    > Gomez went on to say that she wants to “advocate for women, and that’s why I share. That’s why I like to be honest — because everybody’s going through something.”

Did she disclose why she can’t have kids? It’s not something I normally would care about, but as the father of a transplant recipient, I know mycophenolate (a common immunosuppressant) makes having kids riskier, but this can be managed.

It’s not shameful, it’s just nobody’s fucking business about your medical
    situation.

I wonder what one of the greatest Americans to ever live, George Washington, would think about people who don’t have children.

I dealt with a lot of mental and physical suffering as a teen in the 90s and remember feeling like people were much less welcoming of discussing those things, especially compared to how common it is now. it gives me hope for society that it’s more acceptable to be open and honest about personal struggles.

It’s not shameful. She’s a functioning woman finding fulfillment in her life, though she has had to take breaks for medical treatment, including treatment of Bipolar. There are people who relate to her and it might help some to hear her speak about these things without shame.

  7. Selena is just such a gem. By putting it all on the table doesn’t make her a less person, on the contrary its a powerful move, and makes her seem very intelligent, and shows high level of confidence, and the medias can’t create any gossip on her.

It’s not at all. I just love her and she’s such a good advocate. I’m sorry she’s getting all this hate – people are sick wtf

  9. Surrogacy is always an option should she choose it. Science is great, ignore the haters and morons, those people have a room temperature IQ and should be treated like pests

Sorry but she’s so obnoxious and has a victim complex. She’s only making this statement to shush the people calling her out for making this announcement to steal the spotlight from Justin and Hailey’s baby. First the announcement and now the screw you if you don’t like my announcement because feminism!!! She’s really learned a thing or two from taylor.

I’m impressed at her ability to work as hard as she has while managing so many challenges

I too have bipolar and cannot have more kids. I always appreciate how open she is about it.

Only gremlins of the lowest degree would try to even “shame” someone for that

It’s not shameful. It’s brave. No one should be ashamed that they have medical problems beyond their control.
