Yes. Pair it with some good hearty bread.

    > ‘ve never eaten pork in this form before.

It’s not that different from smoked bacon, which is also eaten cold on bread.

    the front says (rougly translated)

this product can be enjoyed cold, but its also quite good when eaten hot. cook it for 30 minutes and serve it with sauerkraut and potatoes.

  3. Yes, absolutely. If you want to treat yourself enjoy with a bit of grated horseraddish and some good mustard.

It even does say on the packaging that it should be cooked for 30 Minutes before eating.

Yes, you can eat it raw. It is kind of an Austrian Salami…

Don’t heat it if you don’t want to increase nitrosamines or love a higher risk for colorectal cancer.

    Edit:

    This meat contains:

**Kaliumnitrat (Potassium Nitrate):**If you only **occasionally consume nitrosamines**, your cancer risk is likely low. The **risk of cancer from nitrosamines** is generally linked to **chronic, long-term consumption** of foods high in nitrites, particularly processed meats like bacon, sausages, and ham, and especially when cooked at high temperatures.

    * Potassium nitrate is commonly used as a preservative in processed meats. On its own, it’s not classified as carcinogenic. However, when nitrates are exposed to high heat or react with proteins in meat, they can form **nitrosamines**, which are known to increase the risk of cancer, particularly colorectal cancer. The risk depends largely on the amount consumed and how the food is cooked.

  7. Slice it thinly , with pickles, some onions, peppers and boiled egg. Also get some whole grain bread and you have some traditional austrian jause 🙂

Slice as thin as you can get it and have some grated horseraddish and mustard on the side

it’s not raw, but anyway for the future, if you see the prefix JAUSE, on anything edible in Austria……go ahead and gulp it down 👍👍✌️✌️
