Das ist eine Abscheulichkeit, mir wird schlecht. Ihr ganzes Land ist deswegen eine Abscheulichkeit.

  1. This is literally the first time I have seen a toilet that looks like this, and I’m German. Still, I honestly don’t know what is wrong with it?

Haven’t seen one of these in like 25 years. Never understood why they exist, but if you put some toilet paper on the poop shelf you don’t need to clean afterwards.

congratulations, you found an old outdated toilet.

no reason to be mad about this though.

You’re exaggerating on the abomination. Appreciate the differences rather than criticise them.

Is this an odd (to say the least) design? Yeah. Is this a generalised type? Nope.

This is the type of post that screams “I’ve not been to many places outside of my hometown and find anything different wrong or threatening”, and that hurts your chances of learning and integrating with the rest.

Having said that, I do agree this doesn’t look functionally optimal.

I swear to God this design makes me want to take a shit facing the other way, so it can fall in the water.

  6. These are special German toilets designed to prevent water from splashing up at you. Water splashing at the rectal area affects most of the world who use ill-designed toilets. There is currently no known cure other than prevention, and 100% of people who suffer from this condition will eventually die.

the purpose is so you can inspect your poop.

poop characteristics and consistency are a very simple and useful health indicator – especially for matters pertaining to the digestive system

  8. I asked my German friend, he told me that this type of vase is more common in old houses.

The chance of shitting a perfect standing tower is low, but never zero. It’s one of those lifetime achievements you never forget.

  10. Are you in the eastern part of Germany? On the territory of former ddr? Because this is an old “soviet” design you can still meet in some houses in Russia.

  11. I lived in Vienna and our toilets were in the common hall (not in our flat) and they were all like that. The WCs had no power and so everyone kept a box of matches stocked in the closet to light a candle. This helped control the odor as well as providing light. 😂 Never saw one of these living in Germany or Switzerland, though.
