Commercial space industry, what a sentence. Meanwhile on earth several problems still exist
Spacewalk? Hardly. They stood and poked their heads through the door. They didn’t get out at all.
I love space, utterly adore it with every fiber of my being but truly we must focus on making earth better. The inflation we are paying for is lining the pockets of rich guys going to space. I’m in Business Financials and if we let billionaires space travel on our extorted dime then space travel will only ever be for the elite.
Edit: I realize my wording here implied these accomplished pilots shouldn’t be called astronauts. My impression of the commercial space industry is that we’re approaching the point where any billionaire can send themself to space and call themselves an astronaut. I think that title should be reserved for accomplished and trained individuals.
I think we should really reserve the title astronaut for actual careers. Seems distasteful to lump these dumbass billionaires in with the men and women who commit hundreds of hours to training and academia to land a slot.
Yea, normal ppl with normal problems dont care what private billionaires, who got their wealth by causing those problems for said normal people, are doing. How can you have any pudding if you havent eat your meat.

Wow, this sub is cranky this morning. At worst, this is a capabilities expansion for the world’s most reliable launch system. In theory, the ability to do spacewalks from Dragon could allow for repairs to other satellites like Hubble (though my understanding is that NASA has said no to that idea for the time being).
The fact that it’s being funded by a billionaire just means our tax dollars are being saved. It’s hard for me to see this anything but a resounding success.
In the whole of Reddit, maybe the internet, nobody hates space more than people in r/space.
If you’re wondering why people are having a hard time getting excited about this, it’s unfortunately pretty simple: the company is owned by one of the biggest shitstains on Earth. SpaceX has achieved absolutely incredible things and is a US national treasure, but as long as it is associated with the king of creepy, it will be tainted.
I always wanted to see the earth from space, and space as a whole in-person. Right now private space travel is for billionaires and it will take a very long time for the regular folks like me to get a front seat to space, but I wish for it to happen at least in my lifetime.
We have a poem here, it’s called “Whitey On The Moon”
It was inspired by some whiteys on the moon
So I wanna give credit where credit is due
A rat done bit my sister Nell
With whitey on the moon
Her face and arms began to swell
And whitey’s on the moon
I can’t pay no doctor bills
But whitey’s on the moon
Ten years from now I’ll be payin’ still
While whitey’s on the moon
The man just upped my rent last night
Cause whitey’s on the moon
No hot water, no toilets, no lights
But whitey’s on the moon
I wonder why he’s upping me?
Cause whitey’s on the moon?
Well I was already giving him fifty a week
With whitey on the moon
Taxes taking my whole damn check
Junkies making me a nervous wreck
The price of food is going up
And as if all that shit wasn’t enough:
A rat done bit my sister Nell
With whitey on the moon
Her face and arm began to swell
And whitey’s on the moon
Was all that money I made last year
For whitey on the moon?
How come I ain’t got no money here?
Hmm! Whitey’s on the moon
Y’know I just ’bout had my fill
Of whitey on the moon
I think I’ll send these doctor bills
Airmail special
To whitey on the moon

This is huge, pretty soon we might see private missions to the Moon.
Funny watching reddit try to hate a guy who raised millions of dollars for kids with cancer
I really hope this is possible for normal people in <30 years
I can’t believe people in the comments aren’t as happy as I am about the prospects of billionaires starting a new space race where they get to further steal more resources and advance their monopolies. Why is everyone so cranky about it? Stop being negative with your different opinions and kiss their boots guys 😄
