  1. All twitter has to do is hire a representative to be in Brazil and they can go back to operating in the country. The only one suppressing “free speech” in Brazil is Elon by refusing to abide by the laws of the country.

  2. The so called free speech that sparked all that were some of these supporters doxxing a federal police officer who was investigating a coup attempt

Most people in Brazil are very concerned. They no longer have a platform that’s not influenced by their government

  4. Yeah, Musk used the “free speech” argument too before he started charging people for it.

“Free speech” supporters who beg for a dictatorship to be implemented in the country. Much freedom, yeah!

  6. If anyone is actually interested in numbers, these same “supporters” made a demonstration back in February that was around 3x-4x times bigger than this one (they’ve been hating the Supreme Court for quite a while). So this time most brazilian media is considering it small – and it is, considering they have been planning for this for a month or so.
A failure overall, considering Musk was backing it up and everything.

It’s Independence Day in Brazil. Bolsonaro supporters usually use the date to try to demonstrate their power (and now trying to force an “amnesty” so that Bolsonaro won’t be arrested for his crimes)

Now that Musk has declared his full support for Trump, and knowing that Trump’s and Bolsonaro’s moves are coordinated by the same source (Bannon and his friends), there’s a real possibility that Musk’s move to force a Twitter ban in Brazil was orchestrated precisely to try to increase support for today’s movement… But today’s demonstration was a fiasco in terms of numbers (1/4 in relation to the february rally). A flop.

As I said. The organizers of this movement are not concerned with free speech or anything like that, their focus is to try to prevent Bolsonaro from being arrested… That’s it.

The rally flopped. It gathered about 1/4 of the people that Bolsonaro used to gather in other rallies.

  9. Bolsonaro’s suporters were today at the streets protesting against the government,  What more free speech they want?

They really want their disinformation vehicle. This is a tough policy issue. But I don’t think freedom absolutists are right. The last few years have shown the high risk freedom of speech will justify Big Lies, hate speech, and foreign misinformation.

Freedom from accountability can kill freedom.  Democracies can’t function long without some regulations. This isn’t just theorizing from a moronic Redditor. Both America and Brazil had coup attempts from their far right.

4x less people than the last bolsonaro rally on february, the craze is passing

Musk will try to run for office somewhere. As a rabid dictator.

Considering that X is the sewer of so called ‘Free Speech’, I for one fully support Brazils stance. No speech is ‘free’ we should each be held accountable for what we say online.

Misleading headline, twitter isn’t following basic Brazilian law, and is refusing to cooperate with basic requests. So in reality, it’s musk who is preventing twitter from being usedin Brazil.
