  1. Lightning-Saddleback made a 911 call at 12:28 a.m. stating he was being followed by a group of people who wanted to harm him.

At 12:43 a.m., an officer came across the teen in the area of 56 Street and 37A Avenue in Wetaskiwin.

In an interaction captured by the officer’s in-car video system, the two spoke about the situation, and Lightning-Saddleback gave the officer a machete and a knife that he had in his possession.
“The youth provided information to the officer. The officer determined that the youth was at risk and attempted to apprehend the youth and search him as well as his backpack,” ASIRT said in a Thursday release.

“While initially co-operative, the youth fled before being apprehended, running a short distance away.”

The officer followed the teen in his cruiser, and was joined by other officers with their in-car video systems activated.
According to ASIRT, they followed Lightning-Saddleback to a field.

“The officers approached and got out of their vehicles. At this point a confrontation occurred and two officers discharged their firearms.”

“The youth was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. First aid was provided. EMS attended and transported the youth to the hospital where he died.”

Too early for a Starlight Tour so they do something like this. Absolutely horrific

Who was after the kid? Why would police gun down an unarmed 15 year old in a field? Perhaps this is corruption and the people who were after the child got what they wanted.

This exact same situation happened to my wife’s uncle about 4 years ago. It’s so dumb this keeps happening.

  5. Honestly this is the fault of native leaders. They don’t protest this kind of incident as they should. They should start a nationwide protest about this. I think they are being paid off.

Edit: downvotes are proof that anti-native racism is alive and well on Reddit. F*CK those Redskins, am I right?

    As always, cops are worthless.
If it’s not in the interest of corporate wealth, they do jack shit but make things worse.

The cops could tell he was at risk because he was in the presence of cops.

  8. …Okay, so, isolated individual cases – very very bad, no good.

Israeli army putting on bras found in the rubble of the houses they’ve just leveled, this is very moral and acceptable because… Mental health or something? Just trying to understand how things work here in the Upside Down, not sure why posters here have such wildly different reactions to these scenarios.

So ue fled, no big deal. But the backpack was not yet searched. I’m guessing he reached in and the cops panicked, or he pulled out a gun/weapon, and the cops acted with reasonable force. With further details, I don’t see how anyone can label the cops murderers.

I see a lot of people here jumping to conclusions. Let’s calm down and wait for the footage.
