      Spoiler: they changed their doctrine long ago and have already all they need to strike, they’re just overexploiting one line of their doctrine saying that the threat of nuclear strikes is also a mean of achieving their strategic purposes

      In autocratic states matter only orders of autocrats.

      Russia (as was USSR) – feudal autocratic state, therefore all its doctrines, treaties, constitutions, etc, are just temporary, parodying Europe, Potemkin villages.

      Used for political opportunism and propaganda abstract wrappers.

      Mutually Assured Destruction, the MAD doctrine is all most people have to remember of the nuclear doctrine. If a country wishes to commit suicide, launch a nuclear strike. No country has complete first strike capability. There’s going to be a response, and they won’t continue to be the country they once were. So if they’re satisfied being a shell of what they once were, then a strike might be practical.

      US has and has had a first strike doctrine. We just also have the means to do what nukes do without using them.

      Russia has like 1000 nukes already and is constantly threatening that they will use them. They were probably doing this anyway and are using this as an excuse.

      Ukraine…..We will defend ourselves vehemently, and we will counter strike with all of our capabilities. However, comrade Putin, we know you are a man of your word and only want lasting peace for the motherland. If you use nuclear weapons it is for our own good. We were never suppossed to defend our country. You promised to treat us like your own citizens. Oh wait……you are already doing that.

      Russia is a joke. No one believes they can do anything at all. Their tactical nukes don’t work and their strategic may work, but they will never use them. Putin, your time on this earth is extremely limited…better stay away from windows.
