    So sad. He was known to play fetch and toss balls to the local residents.

    No idea about this “spy whale” up til now and when I saw it’s name I was like; “Heh! What’s this a whale hired by Russians/Vladimir Putin?”…

    Then I did a quick read of its Wikipedia page;

    >Speculation that he had been trained by Russia as a spy whale led to his being dubbed Hvaldimir, a portmanteau of Norwegian hval (whale) and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

    … Bruh… I mean, it’s just speculation but still, bruh…

    so heartbreaking. I’ve followed hvaldi’s story on Instagram for years. he was a really sweet and social little guy, and lonely. my phone keeps autocorrecting to “lovely,” which I think is fitting too. they were trying to get him joined with a pod so he wouldn’t be alone anymore. this is so sad.

    I got to meet him in the fjords two days before he was found dead. Now he is in for autopsy, our guess is that they will find his belly loaded with russian spy gear
