      Brazilian judge, angry at X, issues order, without due process, that freezes the finances of a different company, Starlink, that has a different incorporation and tax registration in the country.

      This is like how, in North Korea, if one person is accused of a crime, the whole extended family gets arrested.

      To be fair, the SpaceX/Starlink asset freezing and seizure is definitely not something that should be cheered, if you like Elon or not.

      What Brazil wanted censored was anything critical of the government there. Then justifying shutting down starlink access for 250,000 brazilians because of something another company with the same owner isnt doing is above and beyond. It’s a transparent attempt to lock down access to information by the government that goes outside their channels.

      They do not have state level control over these services so they want them gone. Especially if they are not going to enforce the will of the state.

      Yet people cheer for the idea of an oppressive government giving elon the ‘ol heave-ho and justify it as a good thing.

      That being said. Elon Musk is being a complete fucking child about this and it’s taking away from the absurdity of the Brazilian government’s actions.

      He’s a fucking embarrassment. He could have taken this time to be serious about the situation, but instead made AI memes of the judge. Good job.

      The reality here is, the Brazilian government just showed it will shut down foreign companies and providers on a whim and seize their assets under false pretenses and censor information.
