I mean, I wouldn’t trust Hamas, but I also don’t trust the IDF.

Remember this when people say ‘Hamas would easily win an election, look at these Hamas run polls.’ I think Hamas knows they would get dog dicked in any election which is why they haven’t held one since the Bush administration.

Doesn’t come as a shock to me, but I hear people cite the polls a lot so I’d imagine this will be met with scepticism from both sides.

  4. FATPIGEONHATE on

Bad news for sociopaths who loved using this poll as an excuse to justify the bombing of civilians.

Good news for Palestinians who don’t like Hamas.

I have been very suspicious about Gaza polls.

Because you know Hamas is an authoritarian government who murder dissents so of course “support” would be overstated.

  6. Dont_Knowtrain on

Honestly idk how anyone could believe that many people supported them, literacy and education is quite high in Gaza

And to think the UN and some major news outlets just took all that information and a lot more, and published it without bothering about checking the facts too much.. what a joke

  8. shredditor75 on

This actually comes as a major shock to me.

These polls were pretty well regarded.

It does make me view both military action and the prospect of peace differently.

From what I understand, Gaza has descended into anarchy essentially. Hamas always kept order, now they aren’t.

Many people blame them for what’s happened, however actually doing anything about it isn’t possible when survival is the primary goal. Idk what’s next for gaza, they at least need some kind of stable government eventually

  10. If Israel would accept a 2 state solution, there would be no problem for them to dictate that it would be without Hamas, and as a UN protectorate (without IDF) until there is a robust civil social structure. It would take 3 generations, without allowing Palestine to have any militarized structure. There would be required a lot of money for infrastructure, and it would require Israel to let go of most of the occupied territories.

It is the last part that would hurt the most for some Israelis.

So the IDF falsified evidence of Hamas falsifying opinions….

I doubt Hamas has time to create an opinion poll as you know…they’re getting bombed every 3 minutes

The IDF reporting news is as trustworthy as the “Gaza health ministry”

  13. althor2424 on

Who the fuck cares? Hamas and the IDF both are guilty of terrorising the Palestinian people.

  14. Elementium on

Are these the polls everyone on here quotes when justifying blowing every civilian to hell?

  15. clarabosswald on

As long expected, but it’s good to finally have strong claims for it. I still find it laughable that people expect opinion polls coming out of a region controlled by a totalitarian regime to be legit.

I can only hope it’ll stop people from going “akshually everyone in Gaza worship Hamas”, but I’ve already seen comments on Israeli websites saying “the media/government is just trying to make us think that the Palestinian people can be peace partners”, so I’m tempering my expectations.

  16. PoignantPoint22 on

I for one am absolutely shocked. Can’t believe a noble organization like Hamas would do something like this.

  17. PoliticsLeftist on

Doesn’t this kinda ruin the pro-Israel propaganda of “most people support hamas and that’s why we need to glass Gaza”?

Doesn’t this point to Palestinians preferring not to be run by hamas and live in peace with Israel if only Israel and the US would approve of new elections?

I don’t get what Israel is trying to gain here.

Two days from now: Hamas Uncovers Evidence IDF Falsified Evidence Hamas Falsified Opinion Poll Results.

  19. kurwaman12 on

Genuine question, who cares and how is this news?

I thought it went without saying terrorists shouldn’t be taken solely at their word

  20. This is a bad look for the Bibi wing, so I’m actually glad someone in Israel had the balls to do good journalism.

This undermines the Bibi and IDF claims that Gazans love Hamas, and as one of them said, everyone there is Hamas.

  21. I’m shocked that there was actually a survey done… I thought they just make up the numbers

  22. Then one or more of these Palestinians should kill Sinwar and put his head on a post.

    No, this isn’t sarcasm.

  23. It’s called propaganda and both sides of every war in recorded history have done it.

  24. UrbanStray on

That’s…inconvenient. At least for the propagandists usually found in these parts. Most Palestinians NOT being Pro-Hamas doesn’t exactly work in their interest.

  25. BoysenberryWise62 on

Weird they would release this themselves, seems to go against the useful narrative that people in Gaza support Hamas.
