*no cap*
I cannot imagine a world where this even approaches a good idea.
There is no accommodation. The housing crisis is serious. Rentals are through the roof and just can’t afford to bring in thousands of more students who need accommodation competing with locals.
A baseball cap?
This needs to happen in Canada as well.
Its one of the main reasons for the massive immigration influx, but is it too little to late?
Many of the students are actually students of private “colleges” not universities. These private colleges run online courses that just exist to keep up the facade. They are essentially a private ‘pay to enter Australia’ scheme. The caps will prioritise legitimate tertiary education institutions and really are just cutting off these dodgy loop hole opportunist fake educators. Legitimate students who intent to study at our peak universities and intend to leave or enter a highly skilled job are unlikely to affected.
Too little, too late.
Thankfully, the legislation is primarily targeted at so called ‘visa colleges’ .. uni’s will have a cap that is near to last year’s levels .. so not a huge impact for most.
Wish Canada would’ve done this like 2yrs ago…
