A war between Azerbaijan and Iran would benefit no one.Iran could missile shower all over Azerbaijan and Iran would get super destabilised because of the Azerbaijani community.

And even if Iran did win in the end,it would make their biggest problem even worse. With an additional 9-10 million Azerbaijani population coming in,Persians would almost be minorities in their own countries.I bet those Iran nationalists don’t consider that when boasting about how they will conquer us

Didn’t even mention what Turkey,US and NATO would have to say about it

Iran has been operating on the territory of Azerbaijan since the 90s at least, in the form of spy networks, pseudo-religious preachers, sleeper cells, etc. We have seen many times what happens when Iran activates them. There is very little chance of a military engagement between the two countries but Israeli assets can be targeted. By assets I mean off-duty troops, embassy workers, pro-Israeli politicians, journalists, etc.

Iran already attacked the embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran and attempted the assassination of Fazil Mustafa, a known criticism of Iran. This is quite alarming, to say the least. With Russia losing its capacity for war and global influence, Iran seems to be pushing its zone of interest into the South Caucasus. Khamenei recently threatened Armenia by saying the Zangezur road was not in the interest of Armenia and Pashinyan was sitting like a schoolboy in front of the director. Iran threatens Azerbaijan all the time. Unless Azerbaijan and Armenia act together, which is what the US is trying to achieve, the Iranian threat will increase each day.

That might be one of the reasons Azerbaijan dropped the demand for the corridor and will probably soften its position on constitutional change. Iranian regime in its worldview doesn’t see South Caucasus countries as sovereign ones and considers them a part of bigger Iran.

Israel is just being careful I guess, it would be a great mistake if Iran would violate our sovereignty, especially being in not very powerful position and having no political basis what so ever. Unless it’s ready to have more problems than it has already.
