English word, Maltese spelling. It’s absolutely brilliant and I love it. I don’t have the special characters but gamm is another one (jam).

Edit: I found one – ġamm: saw it at the Festa ta Frawli in Mġarr a few years ago and it took me a few seconds to read it and think “jam!”.

plenty of words have been adopted in a similar method. Look at the japanese language as an example, they do the same thing with so many English words.

So? And oxygen in Arabic is… al’uksujin.

What ‘Maltese’ have contributed is Gahan English and sniffing each other’s butts.
