Honestly, that graph is not great. When you use average salary you are putting in the same basket someone who makes 2m a month with someone that makes 600k. There are lots of high earners that will skew the statistic. On top of that, this is only for one bedroom apartments.
That said, I always wonder about this stats, is it Reykjavík what they take into account or is it the capital area?

Orðræðan á Íslandi, og ekki síst á r/Iceland, er að hér sé allt svo ömurlegt og leigusalar reyni hvað þeir geti til að okra á aumingja leigjendunum. En hér sést svart á hvítu að leigan á Íslandi er bara nokkuð sanngjörn þegar horft er til þess hvað launin eru há.
