  1. UK vs EU food standards? The UK has lower standards than the EU – maybe that’s why

  2. One of the reasons could be just the scale of operations, if theres way more Subway stores in UK they can get way better deals with suppliers.

  3. Poland is an expensive country. At least for certain things. I think it’s because Poles pay anyway.

Few examples from my own observations:

Clothing – same pieces in Zara in Ireland were cheaper there than in Zara in Poland.

Food&Drink at festivals and sport events – you can get two beers at the Bundesliga game for the price of one beer at Ekstraklasa game.
Mulled wine at the Christmas market in Krakow was 6 euro – in Germany 3-4,50 depending on the city.

Baby care products – those can be more than twice the price in Poland than in Germany. Same shops same products.
Every time I visit Poland I stock up on diapers and other stuff in German Rossmann even though I could easily buy them in Rossmann in Poland.

  4. Food is awfully expensive in Poland because of shit managing by the previous government. Expenses on heating/electricity and minimal wages sky rocketed and cherry on top was inflation. And well, now it is what it is.
