Not Korean, but believe me, after K-pop and K-dramas became popular, it seems like a lot of women from the West, and even the Middle East, like Korean men. Lol.

So, it indeed seems that some women like these men.

There seem to be a tendency that non-Korean fans of K-pop or K-dramas particularly get attracted to a particular genre of romantic/rom-com K-dramas and the particular genre/style of idol-pop music.

This isn’t necessarily the case for Koreans, however. Some follow the international trend, most don’t. The type of K-drama “looks” or K-pop “looks” mostly target (1) international fans and (2) Korean teenagers and young 20s.

As for the question, “do Korean women like those styles”? I guess it depends. The younger they are, they tend to be. The older they are (i.e. more than 23-24-ish), less so. Korean women are not a monolith.

My western 50-year-old aunt got hooked on Kdramas and Kpop videos last year, and her taste in men has completely flipped. She used to go for the classic muscular, dark-haired guy, but now she thinks they look too rough. She’s all about the Kdrama/Kpop look: slimmer, more polished, and way softer.

Honestly, it’s no surprise Kpop and Kdramas blew up so fast worldwide. There’s something about those guys that just clicks with women everywhere.
