I look forward to everyone still blaming him when nothing changes.

That said, it’s a good thing he’s left.

My condolences to whoever has to try and save this party for the next election. There’s a thankless job.

Trudeau: “I will always be motivated by what is in the best interests of Canadians”.

*immediately proceeds to announce that he’s leaving us without a functioning government until May*

  4. Azure_Omishka on

And also prorogued parliament until March, so we’re fucked when Trump shows up.

  5. DannyDevitosVert on

Happy he’s finally read the room, but none of the leaders currently fill me with optimism.

God that was a lot of words to say I’m resigning. I can’t believe he has the balls to say that he strengthened the middle class. He’s has the exact opposite effect.

  7. BackToTheCottage on

It’s been confirmed parliament will prorogue til March 24th according to CBC. So chopping the head off of our gov. during Trump’s tariffs because your party sucks ass.

Should have called an election but is hamming it on tv how much he serves Canadians.

Love how he thinks his inability to be an effective leader is because of internal political strife when the reality is virtually the entire electorate thinks he’s awful.

  9. I laughed out loud when he said he’s been working to empower the middle class

He blames it on “internal battles”.

    Leave now Justin, election now.

  11. We are facing a President south of us that’s promising to do serious damage to our country’s economy.

It’s not acceptable that we will be taking a few months for the Liberal Party to figure out their internal mess.

We need an election, so that we can have a government with a actual mandate to lead and deal with the vandal south of us.

I don’t find this course of action acceptable. The Liberal Party has put itself before Canada.

The next PM will have a tough job especially with uncertainties of Trump coming in

The only thing he needed to deliver for Canadians was his resignation. About a year ago would have been ideal, RIP the LPC

Paving the way for Pierre Poilievre (#24). How long will that last?

  15. His greatest success according to him? Reducing poverty, strengthening the middle class, and getting people jobs.

Greatest regret? Not changing from first past the post.

My guy what is this answer 😂

  16. Liberal, Tory – same old story. Nothing will change. The rich, we still be rich, and the politicians who are supposed to help the citizens will continue to monitor their own financial portfolios.

  17. Sounds like he’s blaming others in the party for not reforming first past the post to some other voting system. Interesting.

  18. Did he just say he “WANTED” to switch to Proportional Representation?!?!?!?! No you didnt!

  19. TripleEhBeef on

LOL he had the fucking gall to say that not doing ranked choice voting was his biggest regret.

Even though the all-party commission recommended proportional representation.

  20. Smoke and mirrors. It’s still a Liberal government backed by the NDP.

This makes me more nervous than it should.

We are prorogued until March 25th to select a new liberal leader. They will then go into a confidence vote that will fail and we will end up in a election by the end of April.

Trump is coming into power Jan 20th. He’s already promised his tariffs. We will have no team to negotiate and even if we do. Do you think hes going to listen to a party that has no power to negotiate and is about to tumble?

His team is going to come in and say “this is what we are going to get” and we either flop over and give them everything or else we will be crushed.

Thanks Tredeau, One last screw you on your way out.

Hope you had a good time skiing in the snow there..

    Like father like son.

  22. VesaAwesaka on

Hope the country responds with wiping the liberals out for proroguing parliament until the end of March.

Should have stepped down after SNC.

This guy got divorced by his wife and party during his reign.

  24. GJohnJournalism on

Even in his resignation speech he is still a pompous ass. He had the gall to bring up electoral reform when it was HIM who ran and then reneged on it after that stupid Buzzfeed quiz. The worst part is we’re going to trade one arrogant smarmy goober for another arrogant smarmy goober. I hate this timeline of Canadian politics.

  25. JohnnySinsII on

Trudeau says that Canada is a better country today than when he took office as prime minister in 2015.

This delusion of this guy seriously.

  26. Proroguing Parliment is the last scorched earth thing Trudeau can do to screw over the incoming Conservative PM and make a fiscal mess even worse for them to try and figure out.
