    48 volt is the future.

    With 48 volt, 1500 watts would only be 30 amps, and be fairly trivial to feed through a connector.

    48v is already widely used in data centers.

    How will the power get from the power supply to the motherboard without cables?

    the psu should be external there should be one DC power cable going to the system board and a high wattage pci-e socket not rocket science man

    I just got a Thinkstation P8 and was intrigued to see it’s already using something very like this. It has three 12VHPWR connectors right on the motherboard rather than on the PSU.
