      Is Scientology even a thing outside the US? Last I heard of it where they had about a dozen members, and its creed just seems so uniquely American it’s so unhinged and capitalistic.

      Keep getting Scientology ads on youtube on my tv, unfortunately it’s the app so I can’t block them out, only skip.

      I only ever get as far as the skip button popping up, but it starts with a load of people talking about people’s surprised/negative reactions when they found out that the people in the ad were scientologists.

      I’m no marketing expert, but telling people that others will think you’re a mush brained weirdo for joining a cult, seems like a pretty bad strategy for getting people onside.

      Went in for the craic once years ago. They spent a good bit of time trying to find out if I had no way and how many friends I had and if I was feeling lonely.
      I escaped, but they sent someone out with me to make sure I got on the bus ok, and it was more of the I can be your best friend pressure from them.
      Thank God I gave them a false address.

      We went to an event in the Dublin Scientology center last year, they hire out their auditorium for relatively cheap. To put it mildly, there is a very weird energy in that building. I also got the feeling a lot of the people “working” there were…vulnerable.

      Their headquarters is right by where I live. I popped in with a friend, out of pure curiosity.

      Got kicked out and banned pretty quick. Apparently they take offense to the fact they are just Sci Fi LARPers & don’t like being reminded.
