In hindsight this is actually non nefarious and quite obvious.

People had a very specific use case for the vehicle, and wanted to ensure they get the EXACT vehicle they requested, not something *equivalent*…

well time for sensible response, right? let’s ban smartphones, that’ll solve the issue.

  3. The takeaway lesson from this incident, is that renting out your car can be very risky.

This isn’t news. Vehicles being rented for nefarious actions isn’t new.

It’s not clear yet if these people wouldn’t have been able to rent through any other agency.

If anything it’s just showing that people are using Turo instead of hertz/enterprise/uhaul/etc..

  5. I feel like the fact they used Turo isn’t a big deal here though. Like what’s stopping someone from going through Hertz or Enterprise and doing something heinous.

Because better to fuck over a private vehicle owner instead of a large rental corporation with your terrorist act. Classy

How much is Israel going to send us for our troubles backing them?

So the damage from the explosion was limited by the Cybertruck. Interesting. Not sure if the guy intended that.

Didn’t want to pay the refueling surcharge on the Cybertruck that Hertz charges, probably.
