Disappointingly it doesn’t seem that the driver was using an inflatable doll in the passenger seat as a supervisor.

“When you knowingly driving around without an MOT don’t be surprised if we conduct further checks!”

I’m not sure got’em applies when it took you 49 years to catch’em.

  3. Do police ever conduct random licence checks in the UK just for the sake of it, like they do in other countries („papers please”)?

If a person without a licence keeps their car insured, MOTed and taxed, and doesn’t attract attention to themself by speeding/driving erratically etc., will they ever be caught?

  4. > Lancashire Police’s roads policing unit stopped the driver of a Range Rover on Lostock Lane, Preston, due to the vehicle not having an MOT.

    > After further checks, they found the driver, who was not identified, to have been driving on an expired provisional licence for 49 years.

Maybe police should do more random stop and check?
