do the people of these cuntries really live by these calendar years? or is it more like a cultural thing that people keep but use the gregorian calendar in everyday life?

Why is there a small, deformed Japan to the east of Australia? I have never seen such an anomaly on a map before.

In India there are at least 5 different calendars official one is Saka Samvant and Gregorian and that earler is only for tradition and stuff. Depending on states ppl will use different calendar for religious activities. of all Vikram Samvant is most popular and yes all of them are Lunar Calendar, with different New Year. Majority Hindus have new year around beginning of April, but for Gujrati’s it is on Diwali and yes more variation are there for different communities. Buddhist esp. living in Ladakh have new year close to chinese new year in february.

I don’t know about others, but the Indian National Calendar (Shaka Samvatsar) starts from March 21st/22nd (depending on the leap year) if you convert it to Gregorian calendar. So, it would still be 1945 on January 1st.

On a side note, there are multiple calendar systems in India. Another common one is Vikram Samvatsar (which is also used as default in Nepal) which starts from 58 BC, so if you go by that then it’d be year 2081 in India on January 1st.

We have like 10 different calendars in India, but everyone uses Gregorian outside religious or traditional stuff.

Why are Tawain and North Korea the same when they have different calenders?

I was like “who are the gregorians and why are they 1 year ahead”?. I feel so dumb.

  10. Nice to see Taiwan recognising the calendar that began with the birth of Glorious Leader Kim Il-Sung /s

Looks like Japan figured out a solution to their aging society problem: nobody is older than 7 years. They might have gone a bit overboard, a whole country of kindergarten age kids while lively, must be quite chaotic.

  12. Just a bit of update: North Korea ditched the juche calendar, now just uses gregorian

Indian calender (Vikram Sampat) is 56 years ahead. So 2025 is 2081.

According to the Saka Calendar, today’s date in India would be Chaitra 30, 1946. The Saka Calendar is 78 years behind the Gregorian calendar, except for the months of January to March, when it is 79 years behind.

So Ethiopia is still in 2017? Guys we gotta warn them about Covid coming soon!

It will not be 5785 in Israel. Israel still uses the Gregorian calendar for normal everyday business and goings-on. The Hebrew calendar is used by Jews worldwide for religious purposes.

  17. The beginning of the year is not the same in every calendar… so the title is a little bit off.
It should be “What year will it be next year according you different calendars”

Saudi Arabia and Iran be in 15th century explain why be gay is a crime in this countries

With a few exceptions, I think majority of these countries with a different calendar systems either use the alternate calendar for only holidays or Gregorian calendar is also official.

So it’s pure coincidence that North Korea and Taiwan are in the same year, because North Korea does the completely normal and communist thing of basing its calendar on the year Kim Il Sung was born, which just so happens to be the same year the ROC was founded.
