    Details from the article:

A major tragedy occurred on the 29th at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province, where a Jeju Air passenger plane crashed, killing over 170 people. Meanwhile, a fireworks display was reportedly held on the Han River near Yeouido, Seoul, that afternoon, sparking criticism for being “inappropriate.”

According to online communities such as X (formerly Twitter), the “Han River Music Fireworks Cruise” (Han River Hallyu Fireworks Cruise), part of the “2024 Han River Festival Winter,” took place that day. This event is one of six programs organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government over 12 days, from the 20th to the 31st, at the Han River Park. The Seoul Metropolitan Government’s website describes it as “a fireworks show synchronized with music, enjoyed from a large cruise ship.”

    Netizens need to calm down.

This fireworks show had nothing to do with the airline accident or the tragedy that occurred. This idea that everything has to stop as soon as there is an accident or incident is too much. I remember when the Sewol tragedy occurred, my local Starbucks stopped playing music. What does that really achieve? They also banned all excursions and sports days across Korea for almost a year. Again…how foes this help anyone’ How does this stop an accident like that happening again?

It doesn’t. Let’s focus on the issue at hand, and support the grieving families. Do something more productive than screaming at every little thing as a side issue to the actual issue.
