    >Preliminary reports indicate that the crash was caused by a landing gear failure due to a bird strike, Yonhap reported.

I never thought landing gear failures could cause such disasters in this day and age. Seems like a perfect timing and combination of unfortunate events.

Is it just me or are there a lot of aircraft crashing at the moment?

Landing gear malfunction should never cause such loss of life.

It looks like they have better chance to survive if they would land on the highway nearby, not into a runway with wall of death.

Strange. A routine belly landing went terribly wrong. This has happened with other planes, including many Boeing 767s, without issue. It seems the aircraft may have veered off the centerline and caught fire. May those who lost their lives rest in peace.

They should do more to prevent bird strikes, Jesus how hard can it be?

  7. What’s with the massive berm at the end of the runway. Does it Go off into a cliff or something?

I flew out from Bangkok yesterday. I was already on edge because of the other horrible plane crash that happened recently. I just said to myself well its statistically unlikely that there is going to be another disaster so quickly after the last one. Feels weird to think that there could well have been other people at the same airport as me thinking the same thoughts and then this happened to them.
