      Reading all his comments in his newest videos it seems like 85% of his viewers are pro Russian or anti western. I get the feelings he’s trying to play the neutral route, but is low key pushing Russian propaganda

      Remember those right wing influencers in the US (Tim Pool, Dave Rubin, Benny Johnson) getting paid by a media company for their content creation and that company turned out to be a russian funded operation and the influencers all had to claim they didn’t have a clue that the funding was from Russia. Ya, I reckon HistoryLegends is in the same boat.

      He is not entirely wrong though. Russia has been able to keep it’s supply of blood sacrifices up. It is problematic for Ukraine, although it is very bad for Russia too.

      This is part of the futility of war, Russia is draining its blood and treasure to control a nation of people that hates it, with no real prospect of benefiting from it in any meaningful way. In the end, the thing keeping Russia weak is the Russian leadership.

      Another soft core propaganda YT channel (in my opinion) is Jamesons Travels. He reacted to Russian military videos before complimenting the Russian military which isn’t necessarily bad but he did react to literal propaganda videos and said nothing, even when it was straight up lies.

      Also his comment section is littered with Russian bots.

      Disclosure about me and my opinions:

      I have a huge “western bias” and I want Ukraine to kick Russia out of Ukraine’s soverign territory, including Crimea obviously. Not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because of what it means about the world we live in and because we don’t want to return to the age of empires treating the world like it’s a god damn game of Risk. Letting Russia win just invites more of such nonsense.

      I have been an absolute media whore when it comes to this war since Feb 24 2022. I’ve consumed just about absolutely everything I could:

      * bald and bankrupt walking around in Donbas the day before it all started
      * Agenda-Free TV on youtube following the war break-out live for the first week
      * Every video on the war by Covert Cabal, Anders Puck Nielsen, H I Sutton, Task & Purpose, William Spaniel, Civ Div, BigMacs BattleBlog and a few others
      * Dozens of long format videos such as Silicon Curtain, Vlad Vexler, and William Spaniel
      * Daily battle reports I do not watch every single one, but I randomly watch updates for the day from Denys Davydov, Reporting from Ukraine, and Defense Politics Aaaaasia.
      * Misc would be Rob Lee on twitter & the Whisky on the Rocks podcast with Michael Kofman

      I also purposefully consume Russian propaganda bullshit as I live in a free country and it’s my right to view the content and make up my own mind. Obviously given what I stated before I find it full to the brim of bullshit, but hey I get to tell myself I thoroghly listened to both sides and made a moral choice. Anyways, these would include things like:

      * Multiple long form interviews with John Mearsheimer, Aleksandr Dugin (not just the recent one with these two shills), and other pro russian imperialist hackjobs

      * Literally hundreds of telegram channels and I could not even tell you which side 50% of them are pushing because it’s just endless spam and gore porn

      * Fake ass Russian funded documentaries about how the Ukranian Nazis want to genocide Russian souls and super definitely Russia wasn’t seeding a war and shooting down civilian airplanes pinky promise it’s definitely the evil west behind it all

      * I also watch some Россия 1 – in my mind everything on Russian TV is approved by the Kremlin so I sometimes watch talking heads like Vladimir Solovyov and Margarita Simonyan and observe how they portray events through the lens of how they are selling their ‘version’ of events to the Russian populace.

      Anyways, that was a lot of bullshit to say before getting to the topic at hand:

      **I would place HistoryLegends just to the right of neutral (Russian bias) and as a source of actual information I would honestly rate the channel as good.**

      It’s strange, because there is no doubt a veneer of “Russia will crush all” smothered into the intro of every god damn video. Never stated directly, but sort of implied as an eventuality. I don’t really understand why he does this – maybe just a little bit of a trolling going on.

      But when you watch the ACTUAL content (the meat and potatoes of the video) then I claim it’s a neutral source and actually the quality is genuinely high. If Ukraine stomps Russia in a battle (offense or defense) he will state that plainly and say Russia got their asses handed to them or outsmarted by Ukraine. The video in question I watched earlier today & found fairly detailed, I learned quite a bit about how Russia recruits soldiers.

      He points out positives about the Russian strategy, such as how paying soldiers lots of cash who then go on to purchase their own equipment kind of pulls a ‘trick’: the soldiers feel well paid (they are relative to their economy) and at the same time buys his own equipment which improves moral and offloads the responsibility from the state to properly equip the soldier down to the soldier themselves, sort of short-circuiting the system and getting around curruption. It’s a smart point to make.

      He then analyzes the number of recruits, and how much Russia is paying (they keep having to offer more money) and notes that this strategy, which has been largely successful until now, almost definitely going to hit some serious diminishing returns in the near future.

      So yes, if you want to follow the war and you can shrug off a bit of smugness then I do recommend watching this youtube channel.

      As I said, it’s just to the right of neutral with something like Österreichs Bundesheer (highly recommend watching) representing a truely neutral channel and slightly less biased than something like Defense Politics Aaaasia which seems to be pro Russian on the surface level but while the facts will be correct perhaps the adjectives used to describe things will a little more consistently lean pro Russian (ie “Ukraine pushed back the Russians but when Russians attack they ‘destroy’ or ‘crush’ the Ukrainians). He’s not making anything up – just things like Ukraine gets 2 blue arrows to signify an attack that happend and Russian gets 3 red arrows to show their vectors. Shit like that. Correct data slightly red-shifted to sound better if you’re an imperialist asshat.

      I watched his videos just to see what Russian propagandist looks like. He totally lost me when he used to post a video once a week about how Bakhmut is about to fall any day for about 4 months. There is many Serbs like him in Australia.Left Croatia or Serbia not to go to Russia but love to tell you how good Russia is.

      I’m more surprised his channel didn’t get taken down for spewing anti-Ukraine hatred while praising a dictator for his illegal genocidal invasion I’ve seen 1 of his videos back in 2022 and he just completely talk shit about Ukrainians I reported his video for spreading Russian propaganda but I doubt it’ll do anything if enough people mass report his channel for supporting the putin regime…..
