As long as it’s a spin-off and not a remake that makes it marginally more appealing

Get prepared for the Squid Game Expanded Universe (SGEU): Original, US, Tokyo, Origins (Squid Game: One), an animated series….

Just like with Paramount’s Yellowstone-verse and Star Trek (and NCIS……and Dexter) or HBO’s Game of Thrones and (more than likely) Potter-verse.

It’s all beyond exhausting at this point: Who can keep up?

  3. I can only imagine how much tamer it would be on the anti-capitalist message. Korean cinema is much more radical and has less tip toeing over this issue.

It will probably end with a call to regulate the evil corporations to be less evil.

It would be like the South Korean version of Money Heist. These things never end well.

Why? US audiences already like the Korean version, and if they don’t want to read subtitles, it’s already dubbed in English.

This is such a strange phenomenon to me.

I remember when I first heard of Battle Royale, watched it, and was like “Damn. Okay.”

Since then we’ve had **so many** copycat stories, and each time the media pretends like all the other ones before it don’t exist and the new one is so groundbreaking.

The US version is almost always worse. Big exception is The Office.
