Wait, that means Indians make up approximately 35% of the Emirati population! That’s interesting

The UK is definitely in the 2-3 million grouping. It was just under 2 million in 2020 (not taking into account mixed race people) and we have had record immigration the last few years, with India being the biggest source. I think there’s been something like 200-300k Indian people move here each year recently.

South Asian people more widely make up a massive part of our population, we have nearly as many Pakistani people and lots of Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans etc.

Not to be too woke but are we sure “immigrants” is the right terminology to describe Indians in Guyana, Mauritius, South Africa, Fiji etc. It feels a bit weird, like calling the US Black population “West African immigrants.” As much as it can be debated or denied these people are descendants of slaves (or indentured migrants if you find the word slave to carry too much weight). Calling them immigrants makes it seem like they wanted to be there and relocated upon their own capacity and wishes, like one would to Australia or Canada.

Also an interesting facts is that the Indian ethnicity present in US is the richest group of people

About the Netherlands, i think its important to note that not all of these people are your typical “indian migrant”.

Most indians, or as we call them “hindustanis”, are actually from suriname. A lot of indians were brought to suriname during the 19th century and preserved their ethnicity and culture, and after suriname became independent a lot of these surinamers, including surinamese-hindustanis who now make up a quarter of the Surinamese population, came here.

  6. Indian economy is soo bad that’s the reason why they’re migrating in millions

  7. I’m shocked it’s less than a million in Australia. Just here in Melbourne they are a significant part of the overall 5.3 million population. Probably the most visible ethnicity after European, and the majority in many suburbs.

The Philippines should be included among the top 40 countries with highest number of Indian diasporic population.
