    Full statement here:

    https://reliefweb.int/report/yemen/statement-dr-tedros-adhanom-ghebreyesus-who-director-general-attack-sanaa-airport-yemen

    > Our mission to negotiate the release of the United Nations staff detainees and to assess the health and humanitarian situation in Yemen concluded today.

    > We continue to call for the detainees’ immediate release.

    > As we were about to board our flight from Sana’a, about three hours ago (around 5 pm local time), the airport came under aerial bombardment. One of our plane’s crew members was injured. At least two people were reported killed at the airport.

    > The air traffic control tower, the departure lounge — just a few meters from where we were — and the runway were damaged. We will need to wait for the damage to the airport to be repaired before we can leave.

    > My UN and WHO colleagues and I are safe.

    > Our heartfelt condolences to the families whose loved ones lost their lives in the attack.

In the beginning of November, I was checking in for a flight in Ben-Gurion Airport, when sirens came on and the airport came under fire from rockets (Hezbollah, not Houthi). These rockets were unguided, in the sense that they were fired in the general direction of the airport, but could land virtually anywhere in a few square-km area. They ended up making a small hole in the concrete on an access road nearby.

But you don’t see anyone reporting on my travel woes.

Who gives a fck if he is a chief or whoever, like it would matter if it was a chief or a secretary, pompeus douche

  5. Was he in Hamas tunnels too, when Israel was trying to destroy them? I hope he wasn’t injured when Israel hammered Hezbollah.

I hope the IDF will keep hitting Yemen so hard, it will think twice, before launching another missile..

When the airport in tel Aviv was getting bombarded by toilet missiles that meant to kill as many Israelis as possible no one cares. When Israel precisely strikes targets everyone is up in arms. Don’t wanna get IDFd, stop being a terrorist. It’s as easy as that.

  8. WHO chief should maybe warn whoever is in charge in Yemen to stop shooting missiles on behalf of Iran. Iran will not build your country back when you’re next on the chopping block.

Should probably inform Israel next time he travels deep into terrorist territory. Unfortunately this happens regularly in war.

Reddit demographics state the largest percentage of users are 18-29 years old. They don’t know what they’re talking about.

  11. WHO chief travels to country that attacks israel regularly and then is surprised when he finds himself caught in a warzone

    So what?

the international media has become pathetic, can’t believe this has become a headline when Israel retaliate against a terrorist organization that has in its name a literal call to the death of jews

Why is somebody who runs a massive international org in an airport in a war zone? That’s what deputies with danger pay are for. Preferably ones with former military training. Sounds like a massive kidnapping risk with little practical benefit

Maybe be more careful when traveling to a place that’s conducting war on the surrounding areas.

Did nobody have told him that Chief of WHO is not an extra life and durability. And bombs can’t see very well.
