The report cites “two people with direct knowledge” of those conversations. The ChatGPT maker has been involved in the space for some time now, by way of financial backing. It has thus far invested in [Figure](https://techcrunch.com/2024/08/06/figures-new-humanoid-robot-leverages-openai-for-natural-speech-conversations/) and [1X](https://techcrunch.com/2024/01/11/openai-backed-1x-raises-another-100m-for-the-race-to-humanoid-robots/), along with the “general purpose AI” firm [Physical Intelligence](https://techcrunch.com/2024/12/20/heres-the-full-list-of-49-us-ai-startups-that-have-raised-100m-or-more-in-2024/).

  2. I don’t understand why you would make a humanoid robot instead of a robot with the best form factor for it’s given role.
