    1. Putin is evil. The war is still not over and he will go down in the history books as a villain.

Still Russia has lost much more and thought the Ukrainians are hurt and suffering, they are winning the war.

Battered yes down and out NO. Ukraine stands and fights on every front.

Putin = Hitler , So they just need to get rid of Putin somehow before it turns into a world war.

It’s heartbreaking to see Ukraine still facing so much suffering and fighting, and I hope they find strength and support to keep going.

You mean the ghost of Kyiv hasn’t already won the war? What happened to all that propaganda about Ukraine kicking ass?

    7. Russia is also battered, their oil infrastructure took massive hits this year and it’s only going to get worse.

    8. Territory is important, but frankly not as relevant as the sides’ sustainability to wage war. Just look at Syria. A month ago, Assad held 63% of the country, had a somewhat sustainable truce with SDF and by all intents and purposes it seemed he had essentially won the war. One unforeseen turn of events later, his control of the country was all gone in less than 2 weeks, at the hands of rebels who were up until recently all but seemingly contained.

Important to note that Russia is also battered.

Their economy is in a death spiral (interest rates at 21% and inflation at a decades high) and equipment stockpiles are running lower and lower by the day with production nowhere near to sufficient (1500 tanks lost a year to 200 newly built, 60%+ of all stock artillery having been withdrawn).

It’s a race between the two to decide which will break first, and the only way Ukraine loses is with western support stopping.

    10. Another year of 3-4 day invasion. Germany in ww1 also was the one who pushed the most.

    11. But i swear there’s a news story about Russia losing 20 thousand soldiers one day the next three battalions of tanks being destroyed followed by another 50 thousand dead the next day with 5 thousand North Koreans sprinkled in over the week

And Russia is ending the year with the highest casualties it has ever faced. Internationally, Russia has lost Syria and relies now on North Korean meat shields.

To win this war, Russia has to deflect all of Ukraine’s major backers, and break Ukraine’s will to fight for independence. Its hard to ignore that Russia as a sagging imperialist power faces a very uphill struggle

This war of attrition is vile. More should be done to help Ukraine. But it really feels like Russia is “winning” in the same way the British won Bunker Hill.

Sad but true. But if we can hold out, internal progress on military manufacturing will finally become real. While Russians continue to degrade

It is very evident at this point that the war must end as is. The carefully calculated support for Ukraine from the West is/was not enough to turn the tide in this war.

    15. Imagine how the Native Americans in the USA felt when the Americans took their lands…oh and negotiated with them only to be lied to. Hopefully the Russians aren’t as brutal

watch them  rus get slapped on the oskhil river again, that bridgehead is going to be a blood bath to try and expand

    17. Wonderful-Ebb-6598 on

Unsurprising, unfortunately. But while we look to the future, perhaps we ought to think how occupying hostile territory with insurgency around every street alley will be for the Russians. Long term, it may make the conflict between England and the IRA look like child’s play.

    18. Devilofchaos108070 on

They’ve held out way longer than most people expected.

Hopefully they can cause enough blood that Russia gives up.

What the fuck are these comments in here. I swear people sound almost giddy for Russia to win jfc

    20. stonesthrwaway on

what I don’t get is, didn’t russia push all the way to kyiv then withdraw? so why is anyone pretending this is a fight and not just russia choosing and holding a line?

    21. PawpKhorne on

The west can decide to win the war whenever it wants to. But we’re being too spineless and cowards to actually do something.
