    1. This video just made me sad.

These young men had no idea what they were getting into, and the ones who did come back never got to enjoy peace and stability but rather had to endure 20 more years of economic hardships and political turmoil culminating in an even more devastating war. There was no good ending here

      A truly lost generation.

These scene was incredible. It was like 15min of classic B&W jumpy footage and then this transition …. was just incredible and felt like it wasn’t that long ago

I saw it at the theater. Just looking at the hardship these young soldiers experienced is truly heartbreaking.

Any war is bad but soldiers of early modern war definitely was worse off simply because of introduction of machine gun and airplanes which literally slaughtered soldiers.

Imagine the wildest thunderstorm and heaviest rain you have experienced and all the stuff flying thru the air is razor sharp heavy steel mixed with poison gas. Some of those men who lived thru ww1 experienced actual hell on earth and a fate worse than death having to always remember their hellish experience. WW1 is the only one that when I really think about makes me cry a little.

You can see some are Canadian Soldiers with their red insignia on their uniforms, especially the guys with the red triangle 🔺insignia at 0:58 seconds.
(Please inform me if i’m wrong, i would gladly learn more about the Canadian insignia)
