Libyer sind auf die Straße gegangen, um gegen die Präsenz Russlands zu protestieren. Dies geschieht, nachdem Russland kürzlich seinen militärischen Schwerpunkt im Mittelmeerraum von Syrien nach Libyen verlagert hat

Russia basically had 2 footholds in the Mediteranean: Syria( at least the parts controlled by Bashar al Assad) and Lybia( the part controlled by Khalifa Haftar)

now that Assad is gone ,Russia is reinforcing its presence in Lybia, by moving military assets from Syria there

Lybia has 2 main factions controlling the country:

* the Tripoli government , supported by Algeria and Turkey,
* the Benghazi government led by general Khalifa Haftar, supported by Russia, UAE, and Egypt

especially Algeria hates Haftar, and Russia’s support for Haftar is a major thorn in Algeria’s alliance with Russia, as well as Russia’s support for the Mali junta( whom Algeria also sees as an enemy, and reports show that Algeria plans to help arm the Tuareg rebels in their fight against Mali regime and Wagner)

the Civil war has grinded into a cease-fire in 2020, but Haftar might take advantage of Russia’s desperation and demand military aid to rearm for another offensive in the future

but on the other hand, Algeria and Turkey will likely increase their support for the Tripoli government ,especially since Turkey no longer has to deal with Assad
